A Nationwide Building Society research shows more than half Brits (56%) have botched a DIY job at least once. Strangely enough, only 10% have recovered the costs by claiming on their insurance. Most of them ended up paying the cost themselves. Most probably, people don’t know what exactly the home insurance covers.
However, it seems DIY projects are still a national hobby. According to researches, 80% of people tackle home repair tasks without any professional help. Yet most of them take up with elementary jobs like painting (70%), bleeding a radiator (65%) or improving the garden (62%). Still, there are a number of braver DIY enthusiasts who knock down walls (24%), lay loft insulation (21%), fit a new kitchen (12%).
Taking into account the researches, Fantastic Handyman team created the following infographic about the current state of the DIY industry in the UK.
